Increible figura. Muy bonita.

I really want to like this. It looks great but he has 3 capes that aren’t very functional and the red paint underneath can easily transfer to the figures white parts. Tons of articulation but the issues Ive listed kind of hinder that. If this had a cloth cape (there’s some 3rd party options) it could be a 5 star figure. But for the price it should be perfect out of the box.

This is the first figure I’ve bought from Storm Collectibles that wasn’t a Street Fighter figure and SC can sometimes be hit or miss. Their recent figure of Balrog was fantastic but I remember back to the figure of Cammy White they released, and it was horrible. As a huge Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets fan, this one was a no brainer to pick up. I preordered mine from a figure specialty site for $120 and it’s currently $125 on Amazon and only appears to be getting sold by third party sellers.
Ken the Eagle is a bit of a mixed bag. Storm Collectibles always uses this soft rubber that I’ve never been in love with. I suppose it feels more flesh like, but I prefer the harder plastic of companies like Bandai and Figma. The body sculpt is done well with a lean, muscular physique. The paint is nice but a bit dull because of the choice of rubber and I did spot some very tiny paint errors. It’s just that when I’m paying $120 for a figure, I have some high expectations.
My biggest issue with the figure is the facial sculpt. They went with a much more realistic face than is in the anime and I’m not sure why. I would have much preferred going with the anime face. The figure comes with 3 capes including one that basically hangs down his body, one in the shape it might form when flying and one that’s just billowing behind him. The problem is that the two capes that are splayed out are way too heavy for him to stand without a brace, but the figure doesn’t come with a brace, so they are essentially useless. I’ve never owned a figure with a molded cape, generally figure makers use wiring to pose capes and I would have preferred that here but as far as I can tell Storm Collectibles never mixes materials. It probably would also have been nice to get a brace given the cost of the figure.
As a huge Gatchaman fan, I certainly don’t regret getting this figure, but I just wish they’d made a few different decisions. The facial sculpt looks nice, but it doesn’t look like the anime version and I wish they hadn’t gone with molded capes. Ken’s Boomerang is also a soft rubber and I think it would have been cool if it had been a harder plastic and had retractable wings. As it is, there are two included, one folded in and one folded out. The folded version fits in his side pouch. The helmet beak is perhaps the coolest part of the outfit, and they really nailed that part. There is a second alternate head with a slightly more serious expression and five pairs of alternate hands. I would definitely get the rest of the Gatchaman team and villains if Storm Collectibles continues to produce them. Not a perfect figure but pretty good.

Gatchaman was ahead of its time. As one of the first animated cartoons brought to the US from Japan it captured a lot of kids attention. This figure is a great representation of the Gatcjaman/G-Force leader. Great posability and accessories for every fan.
